Gen Z – Looking Back and Looking Ahead

What we have accomplished

We began by creating a survey to further understand what the young generation think about architecture. We then used this feedback to structure how we were going to reach out and engage with people in the most effective way. The results we got strongly pointed to the fact that many young people are very concerned about the environment and are keen to help make a change for the better. We also found that many people feel that the education they receive about architecture and design from their schools is not enough, making this project even more important.

In order to carry the project forwards, we then organized a competition to provide additional inspiration for the RIBA Redesigning Train Stations competition that DKD entered. We received 6 entries from people ranging from 12-16/17? years old and covering a wide range of different approaches. Elements of these designs were then incorporated into DKD’s own submission for the RIBA competition, allowing Gen Z’s own ideas to filter into current architectural design.
