Introduction

Moved by his mother’s sense of loss at missing her father’s last words, DaeWha wanted to avoid the same thing happening to himself. He imagined a way of capturing his sentiments in a physical artefact that she might have with her at all times.

The medallion, cast from pure silver or bronze, holds an intimate message to be read in moments of solitude or remembrance. The weighty object fills the hand and warms to human touch.

As ambition and achievement take us further afield from our mothers, we leave them with a physical touch and an emotional connection that binds us together despite the difference that separates us.
